Education and the Professional

I am the AssistU laision for the International Association of Administrative Professionals. As the Colorado Wyoming Montana Division President Elect, I have strong desires to see both of these organizations united in educating administrative professionals.

In doing some research, I find that often administrative professionals say, "I am just the secretary" and other denegrating comments.

First, let me say - I never wanted to be a secretary. I fell into the profession by way of divorce and business training. So, I have taken the next step for me and became a Virtual Assistant. This profession allows me to take my business degrees into the world of entreprenuership.

What bothers me is the lack of education, pride, and support that many companies neglect to offer their administrative professionals. This is reflected in administrative professionals' attitudes toward joining organizations, furthering their education, and generally having pride in their skills and talents.

What do you think?
